... By grace you have been saved -- and raised us up with Him and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages He might show the immeasurable riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:5b-10 Thornton Fractional North High School is located in Chicago. As is true for most high schools, Thornton recently had its commencement service. As you might expect, Thornton's graduation was a time of excitement and joy. There was a blend of emotions. For the students there was an eagerness to get to the future, an eagerness that was balanced out by a sadness at saying farewell to old friends and pleasant memories. This year Thornton's... (more)

Muslim Teenagers
Sadiq Gill -
for Motivating Teenagers

By Victor UsifoThere are different phases of growth in an individual's life and because teenagers are human beings, they are no exceptions to the rule. During this period of physical development of the body, teenagers are irritable and unruly and parents find them hard to manage. At this crucial time of their lives, parents worry about their children's welfare and future prospects. God's Counsel Stands
Date: Tuesday, August 04, 2015 Chapters: Isaiah 43-46 Message Title: God's Counsel Stands Hello My Friend, How often do we face some kind of affliction and after a while start to question why God allows these things in the first place? Pretty often I believe. We all have these expectations, even after we are saved, but sometimes they are far from what we tend to get. God gives us the life that He wants us to have, we may not understand how and why He puts us where He has us, but we can understand that he has a great purpose for it, even if it is something so tragic that we cannot fathom why He allowed it in the first place. Affliction of any kind brings us closer to God, and brings others to Him as well. “Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: I... Dark of the Moon
Mixed Bag
A co-worker recently asked me what my hopes, dreams and fears were. "I just want a place of my own and to not have to keep moving, like, every year. My fear? Every time I see a homeless person I'm scared that that'll be me." It would be nice to stay in one place -- somewhere clean and safe -- for longer than a year or two. To "nest" and decorate without worrying that it's a waste of time and money because I'll just be leaving in a couple months. With my first place I had saved up some money but shortly after moving in my work started laying people off and I didn't know how much longer I'd have a job. So I never really "decorated." It was basically bare bones. Then I decided to go back to school and rented a little basement bachelor. Money was tight as I was working only part-time, so bare bones it was again. My father then asked me to move back in with him and so move again I did. The apartment was already nicely furnished thanks to my dad's horrible GF and I tried to embrace... (more)
